A new has entered the American vocabulary: affluenza. Affluenza is defined as the unsustainable addiction to economic growth. Many scholars, writers, and comedians have made America's affluenza mentality as a warning to the American people, as well as the bud of jokes. Based on human nature, and strive for a more advanced life; Americans are truly people who need more growth. Affluenza is a characteristic that humans have been exemplifying for centuries. Aristotle, an ancient Greek scholar, states, "He is happy who lives in accordance... and is sufficiently equipped with external goods"(Source A). People have always wanted more, which will make their lives happier. Human nature is never satisfied, people will always strive for the next better thing. Americans do have a mentality related to affluenza, not because they are greedy, but because human nature is ready for best entity. People are always trying to have a more advanced life.
