Akhenaten Sun God Analysis
The Author's (Akhenaten, the sun God) purpose was that Akhenaten wanted everyone to only believe and worship one god. He wanted everyone to trust in only one God, and that God of course, was Aten the sun god. The story of Aten was that he wanted to change everyone's beliefs into the same as his own.The people of Egypt was forced to change from a polytheistic religion, the worship of many gods. He believed that all good things are connected to the sun, in which is said to create life and well being. He achieved the purpose by changing people's beliefs but soon after he died, his ideas were abandoned and and people moved back to their original city. Even though Akhenaten's son tried to keep the religion going.

Aten is the sun god and Akhenaten walks the reader through his belief of what his god does. The short story is trying to persuade the readers to worship Aten and become monotheistic (which means to worship only one God, similar to Christianity). The poem is trying to persuade the readers to pick a certain God they want to follow. So in comparison between the short story and poem is to only worship one God.
This Hymn could take place at any point in time because Aten is everlasting. Even if there was a great revelation happening, Akhenaten would attribute it to Aten. However, the setting would change the entire tone of the hymn. This hymn deals with things that are new and glorious, but if one were to change the setting to a revelation, it would deal with death and destruction. The only major difference between the story and the poem is that in "Rebellion" you are free to choose what god you would want to follow, but in the story Akhenaten forces his people to give up other gods in order to only worship
