American Food History
In the beginning of civilization, the world was a hunter gatherer society, the means of food was for survival and that's all that it was considered. As time went on more of a cultural essences surrounded the consumption of food. In the Far East thousands of years ago there became two types of main cuisine, Temple and Palace. Temple being the food of those of religion and self–discipline and Palace being those of the rich and powerful. In the United States a large part about that society that surrounds it is the income and socioeconomics class of the groups that are eating. In America income has a lot to do with the foods you eat and why you eat them. We associate those who eat steak and lobster as ones who wealthy, while we associate those who hamburger helper and fast food as those of the lower class. This is very prevalent when it comes communities. Being from metro Detroit there are many different income classes when it comes from town to town like the rest of the country. Upper class towns tend to have ritzy restaurants of tapas food, French inspired dishes with expensive wine menus. While, in the lower class towns it is more of greasy fast food, tacos, and quick easy and convenient
