Analysis Of The Book ' The Joy Luck Club '
Written by Michael Dorris, A Yellow Raft in Blue Water is a novel about three generations of Native American women, Rayona, Christine and Aunt Ida. The women live throughout hardships, hidden secrets and shattered family bonds. The novel is broken down into three sections corresponding to the three perspectives of the Native women. Each woman expresses their feelings and tells their story all linking up together. Towards the end of the novel, a gathered opinion can be made on the three characters true to all the viewpoints. The Joy Luck Club is a movie, based off a novel written by Amy Tan, displaying the struggles of a group of Chinese women and their daughters. The women grew like a family when they moved from China to San Francisco. The woman in the joy luck club all experienced rape, domestic violence or being abandoned by their family early in adulthood. Christina, Ida and Suyuan all live a life full of betrayal and resentment. As perspectives are explained, the characters of Christina, Ida and Suyuan reveal the truth about their lives, showing the reasoning of their sorrow.
As seen through Rayona and Christine's perspective, the way Christine is perceived differs from the character's point of view. As the novel begins in Rayona 's point of view, Christine is described as a pathetic drunk who doesn 't take care of her daughter.
