Twenty percent chance of living and she survived. Claire was diagnosed with stage 4 Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia two weeks after her birth. She is now a thriving eight year old cancer survivor. The researchers, doctors, nurses, and therapists, are the main reason I have an adorable cousin here today. From the moment I heard the magnitude of what my little cousin was battling, I set my goal of a career in medicine, and the Allied Health Academy at Williamstown High School is that right first step to achieving my goal. The Allied Health Academy is the perfect path for me to get an inside look at the medical field and prepare me well for college. While I aspire to become a surgeon, I want to be exposed to other professions in the field as well. I am very interested in the anatomy of the human body and desire to learn more about it. Insight into the many aspects of the field of medicine will give me a broad perspective of what my future could hold. I am a member of the National Junior Honor Society and Student Council, serving the school and students as an eighth grade class representative. Outside of school, I thoroughly enjoy working with children during the summer as a camp counselor at Tall Pines Day Camp. I am also an athlete and team player and view these interactions as opportunities to further build character, learn from others, and exercise good sportsmanship. I am currently the captain of the cheerleading squad, play field hockey in the Fall, and lacrosse in the Spring.
